Trump, In Verse

I think the entire world’s RIPPING US OFF!!!
I’m really not sure how we’ve lasted this long.
And so, with a flourish – as done with my coif –
it’s now tariffs I’ll tease to keep righting this wrong.

Aluminum, lumber, reciprocal, steel,
all imports from China, fine wines and champagne.
(I once wrote a book called “The Art of the Deal”;
go pick up a copy – if any remain.)

Soon after announcements, I say that I’m pausing –
with high hopes this gambit will bring genuflection.
These on-again, off-again tariffs are causing
a stock market nosedive into a correction.

Some people are harkening back to Black Tuesday,
that dark day of yore when the stocks hit rock bottom.
To all of these countries as I put the screws, pray
you won’t lose your 401(k)s – if you’ve got ‘em.
