The price of eggs, it seems, has got most everybody stricken,
so the best advice, I said, is go and get yourself a chicken.
Don’t need roosters; it’s the hen chicks who fulfill the role of lay-er.
Pretty soon, you’ll see production from your home-grown egg conveyor.
There are costs involved in raising chicks, I’m willing to concede:
while the eggs themselves will now be free, you’ll pay for coops and feed.
Get the name of a good vet, a local you can be referred to,
since your flock might get infected with a nasty bout of bird flu.
Tired of supermarket prices? This alternative seems valid.
You will be awash in omelets, quiche, shakshuka, and egg salad.
Seems that Trump can’t lower prices – as opposed to what was ever claimed.
How do chickens mirror this proposal? Clearly, both are feather-brained.
