I’m the law and order President – my concept here is flawless:
Lock up all the prosecutors as I pardon all the lawless.
I have issued blanket pardons (though a few were just commuted)
since the SCOTUS made a ruling that my say-so’s undisputed.
It’s a national injustice that was perpetrated – grave –
all because impassioned citizens, who didn’t misbehave,
showed up at the U.S. Capitol and walked in, uninvited.
‘Twas a day of love and peace – and ne’er a riot was incited.
Well… perhaps a handful got a tiny bit over-enthused,
and while wrapped up in that fervor might have gotten some cops bruised,
and perhaps smashed through some windows, and broke down a couple doors –
but that happens all the time when visitors come in for tours.
Now, as far as claims that anyone was guilty of assault:
They got caught up in the hub-bub; therefore, they were not at fault.
While the details, in some cases, were repugnant and quite gory,
if you wear a badge – that kind of risk comes with the territory.
The most violent offenders I at first said were excluded
from consideration. Then I changed my mind – all were included.
Even some of my supporters think I’ve shown cops disrespect.
Choice of reverence or toadying… just what did you expect?
